LIVE Trust & privacy

Trust, privacy and responsible use.

Reporters handle sensitive tape. Here is plainly what happens to it — and how to use AI without risking your credibility.

Quick answer

AI Journalist deletes your audio from the server once the text is produced. Your records keep the text and the article you wrote, not the recording. Failed conversions are refunded automatically. Always verify quotes, names and figures against the original before publishing.

What happens to your recording

  1. You upload a file, or paste a public link.
  2. Large videos are compressed on your own device first, so only a small audio file is sent.
  3. The audio is converted to text.
  4. The audio is deleted from the server as soon as the text is produced.
  5. Your records keep the text and the article — not the recording.

What stays in your account

Text, article drafts and their settings, shown in Records. Re-open, export or rewrite any of them — including in another language.

Using AI responsibly in a newsroom

  • Verify everything you quote. Timestamps take you to the exact second.
  • Follow your newsroom's disclosure policy.
  • Think before uploading sensitive material. If a recording could identify a vulnerable source, follow your organisation's security guidance first.
  • Public links only. Respect each platform's terms and your standards for user-generated content.
  • Understanding a video is not authenticating it. Verify the account, date and footage independently.
