AI transcription accuracy: the 7-check list before you file.

AI is fast, not infallible. This is the editor's pass that makes AI-assisted copy safe to publish.

Quick answer

Before publishing from an AI transcript or translation, check seven things against the original audio: proper names, numbers and dates, every direct quote, speaker attribution, context and tone, translated lines, and the truth of any claim made in the recording.

Updated 29 October 2026

The checklist

  1. Names and titles. Spelling of people, places, organisations — especially after transliteration into another script.
  2. Numbers, dates, currency. Re-listen to every figure; check units, lakh/crore versus million/billion.
  3. Direct quotes. Verify exact wording at the timestamp. Trim with care; never change meaning.
  4. Speaker attribution. Confirm who said what in group conversations.
  5. Context and tone. Sarcasm and hedging can read as fact in text.
  6. Translated lines. Have a fluent colleague check high-stakes quotes and mark them as translated.
  7. Claims. A source saying it isn't proof. Corroborate.

When errors are most likely

Background noise, overlapping speech, strong or unfamiliar accents, jargon, and speakers who switch languages mid-sentence. When the audio is hard, widen your review.

Sensitive material and disclosure

Before uploading, consider whether a recording could identify a vulnerable source, and follow your newsroom's policy on disclosing AI assistance. AI Journalist deletes audio after processing — see Trust & privacy.

Frequently asked questions

Is the article ready to publish as it is?

Treat it as a strong first draft. AI can mishear names, numbers and heavy accents, so check every quote, figure and proper noun against the recording before you publish. You are the editor; AI Journalist removes the typing and translating, not the responsibility.

What happens to my audio file?

Audio is deleted from the server as soon as the text is produced. Your records keep the text and the article — not the recording.

Can Hindi audio become a Tamil news article?

Yes — that is the core of AI Journalist. The spoken language is detected automatically, and you choose the language of the output from 30 options. Hindi audio to a Tamil article, Tamil radio to English wire copy, an Arabic briefing to a Hindi feature: any spoken language to any output language, as text or as a finished news article.

What do I get after converting a recording?

Clean text in your chosen language with optional speaker labels and timestamps, and an article draft written from that text: headline, lead paragraph, sub-headings, quotes and context. Export as TXT, Markdown, DOCX, PDF or SRT.
